On May 16th at Camberley Heath GC Clutch Pro Tour staged its first professional tournament in association with Bedford Insurance Group.

The event was a huge success, with 84 talented professionals competing for the guaranteed £25,000 prize fund.

The tournament was a big talking point in the professional golf community in the lead up to the tournament, with huge incentives on offer, including a £20,000 car for a hole-in-one and the biggest first prize in ‘mini tour history’ of £11,000.

Camberley Heath and the Harry Colt Par 71 course, made for an excellent test of golf, with the players having to balance strategy and aggression to try and give themselves a chance to win the lucrative first prize.

Clutch Pro Tour was formed to offer unique opportunities to developing professionals, and the quality of the venue and substantial prizes attracted some well known European Tour players such at Matthew Southgate.

After 18 holes of regulation play, there was a 4 way tie for the lead on -5. These players were Richard Mansell (Euro Pro & Challenge Tour), Richard Bland (Challenge & European Tour), Matthew Southgate (European Tour), and Van Phillips (Ex European Tour Winner).

After a very tense playoff, Van Phillips emerged as the winner making birdie from 22 ft on the 4th playoff hole to walk away with the winners cheque of £11,000.
